sockhom Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 (edited) Hello everyone, Some of you may know that, as a publishing taxonomist, I have authored or co-authored the scientific descriptions of several Nepenthes species in the past (N. bokorensis, holdenii, palawanensis, diabolica... to name a few). I have just been offered the opportunity to join a botanical expedition for three weeks in August this year to describe a beautiful NEW Nepenthes species in South East Asia. I can’t unfortunately tell you where this new taxon is from and can’t show it either at the moment. I got the field trip expense covered but need to gather at least 1400 euros to get my flight (+ trains tickets) to join my team members out there. As a botanical artist, I actually initially started to paint and sell botanical prints in late 2019 to fund botanical expeditions hoping to describe new plant species (and especially my beloved Nepenthes). This was a few months before Covid stroke… With this new expedition, I have the chance to give full sense to these two passions : having my botanical art sustaining my botanical scientific work! To fund the cost of the flight, I am running a sale this weekend in my shop. If you wish to help me, please go and get something there. Everything is 25% off until June 6th actually. I’ll make sure to make a short video when I will be in the Asian wilderness in August where I will thank the people who will have helped « sponsoring » my flight! Thanks a lot for your help!
